IMG_5164.JPG

This weekend has a variety of releases. March is generally known as Air Max Month. With Air Max Day 3.26. Nike Definitely did not disappoint with the Nike Air Max releases. Let's briefly go into a few of these upcoming weekend releases. There will also be a sleeper pick placed at the end. Keep reading... so let's get into it...

... First up... we have a highly anticipated Foam Posite Pro "Silver Surfer"...

Nike Air Foam Posite Pro "Silver Surfer"

Nike Air Foam Posite Pro "Silver Surfer"

  • Themed for the one of the Fantastic Four movies "The Silver Surfer". The shoe takes on the look of the actual movie "superhero". Nike does a great job of using different shades of silver to match the Silver Surfer in the movie and comic books. The Pro model Foam Posites features a Nike swoosh on the outside base of the shoe.
  • The sock lining and tongue are black, with another smaller Nike swoosh on the back tab of the sneaker, in silver. The silver side panel of the shoe has a silver reflective look to it.  Black and silver goes effortlessly together. And Nike has done a great job with this model, completed with a translucent sole. Raider's fans would probably love this colorway!

Release Date: March 17, 2017

Retail Price: $250 USD

... Next up...

Atmos X Air Jordan Retro III x Nike Air Max 1 Pack

Atmos X Air Jordan Retro III x Nike Air Max 1 Pack

  • Surprise sneaker pack alert. Releasing, both, as a solo release and as a pack. As a pack these are a deadly combination. Two different sneakers, one colorway theme, one pack.  The Air Max 1 atmos Elephant, originally released back in 2007.
  • They both feature the elephant cement print along the midsole and around the sock lining. It is said that the solo release of the Air Max will not have the numbers you see printed on the back of the tongue. The pack features Nike Air on the back of Retro III. Also, different from the solo release, the Nike Air Max 1 has the jumpman logo on the sole. The Retro 3 features the icy blue soles with "Nike" printed on the bottom. Overall the theme is classic. A great way to pay homage to the OG theme and color way.

The different hues of grey are key; with a hint of green for the Kyrie Logo.

STILL HANGIN' AROUND: Retro Jordans still sittin' on shelves, in stock!

Way back when, Retro Jordan's used to be at the forefront of the sneaker game. Times have changed. And you can now find Retro Jordans still online or still on the shelves at your local sneaker retailers (FootLocker, Champs, Finishline, Footaction, Villa, etc). A few years ago, an Air Jordan still sitting available would be a myth BUT present day it is a fact. Let's take a look at the Retros that are still in stock today and why they may be still sitting... let's get into it....

... first up...

Jordan VI '91 "Alternate"

Jordan VI '91 "Alternate"

  • Originally released back in 1991 the Jordan 6 was considered by most as one of the top model Jordan. However, now a days, when Jordan Brand Retros a model they often use different materials or colors. Take these for example....

  • As you can see, this model features a white mesh fabric on the upper back panel of the sneaker and it flows through the entire sneaker. Also this sneaker has a grey suede toe box similar to the toe box featured on "Retro Hare 7". And for the OG sneakerheads you'll notice that the "true red" has gone away and you'll get a dark red or a maroonish color on this model.

... next up...

Jordan Retro VIII '93 "Alternate"

  • This particular model was released back in 1993. Also considered another classic model. Well let's be honest, most Retro Jordans are considered classic models; well at least 1-14 for the most part) Sometimes something as subtle as too much of one color OR a color not placed in a certain place of the sneaker can throw a sneakerhead off. These are called "alternate" because they aren't the Oroginal colorway. The OG sneaker has grey on the midsole and not black.  Also the design on the back upper section of the shoe is different as well. Slight changes can alter the desire of a pair of sneakers. Hence, why these are still sitting on shelves.

  • A side by side look of the OG vs the Alternate...
OG or Orignal on the Left and the Retro "Alternate" on the right.

OG or Orignal on the Left and the Retro "Alternate" on the right.

... Up Next...

  • These 2017 Cherry 13s, and I could be wrong, are almost identical to the OG Retro with the difference of material maybe BUT these sat simply because of the releases around it. These dropped around NBA all star break. All sneaker brands flooded the sneaker market to push their signature athletes featured in the game or allstar weekend. These were just a case of "bad timing"

... lastly ...

IMG_5121.PNG
  • The chatter around why some people didn't purchase may AMAZE YOU. The word was the back part, around the sock lining area, was too bulky!!! Yes, just slightly thicker than the OG. As mentioned before the slightest alteration can be the deal break. That and people who still have their OGs and they are still clean, there's no reason in buying two pairs. UNLESS, you really like the shoe. Now, aside from the red color on the back of the tongue, these retros are pretty much the same as the OGs that release in prior years ('88, '01, '09, '11). The "Nike Air" on the back seems to add a $30 more of a price now a days, from the usual $190 retail.

The bulkier area of the sock lining u can see here

left side is 2011 less bulky vs right side 2016 more bulky

  • The colorway, material used, and retail price seems to play a major role in why these Retros are still in stock today. Also the timing of the release, there are some that sit just because they released with other releases; that have more hype. My honest opinion is I think a few years ago jordan releases were more exclusive and less frequent. I believe the frequency makes them less desired and less exclusive. But in regards to higher prices, Just give them a couple weeks and they will go one sale... THEN ITS BUY TIME!

... as usual... log in, tune in, lock in...

HOLIDAY HOT PICKS: December 2016 Top Picks! Top 5 plus two sleepers and an exclusive collaboration!

SEASON GREETINGS SNEAKERHEADS!!! Sooo many releases coming out this holiday season 2016. They can't fit in one post, so I narrowed it down. I'm going to give you my top 5 releases this month, two sleeper picks, and an exclusive collaboration! Excited! Let's get into it...

First up...

Nike Air Jordan Retro 9 'Space Jam'

Nike Air Jordan Retro 9 'Space Jam'

  • What better way to start off the list, than with a classic? My list of top releases are in no particular order. But I will say that these will be at the top as far as sales go. This sneaker needs no introduction. The classic black patent leather and Icy soles! These were originally worn by Michael Jordan in the 1995 NBA Playoffs. They were first released on December 13th, 2000 for $125.
  • Some are a uncertain of the number 45 on the back. However, it is fitting, considering when the movie game out, it was during his first retirement and then he came back to the NBA wearing number 45. As you can see the shoe is mostly black with the blue Jumpman logo.

Next up...

Nike Air Jordan Retro 9 'Space Jam' or 'Playoffs'

Nike Air Jordan Retro 9 'Space Jam' or 'Playoffs'

  • These here are also classic. You can find these OGs on the Jordan Retro Shoe Card. Originally released in 1993. I had the 2002 releases. Unfortunately they yellowed and I sold them. BUT now I get a second chance. These feature the classic Chicago Bulls colorway. A must have if you are a true Jordan Fan. I know most will probably sleep on these and save for the Space Jam 11s BUT if you got it, you should purchase both.

Next up...

Nike Air FoamPosite One Royal '20th Anniversary'

Nike Air FoamPosite One Royal '20th Anniversary'

  • Originally released back in 1997, these Penny Hardaway signature sneakers are one of my favorite signature sneakers.  Even though they will be releasing in 2016, they still carry the "20th anniversary" tag. The royal blue color way matches the Orlando Magic Jerseys. The Icy blue soles just completes the shoe, in my opinion. But I'm a FoamPosite fan so there may be a little biased opinion involved. I think these will be one of the best Foam Releases in a few months. This is an OG color way that should be added to any sneakerhead's collection. Especially mines.

Coming in next...

Nike Air Jordan Retro 16 "Midnight Navy"

Nike Air Jordan Retro 16 "Midnight Navy"

  • Pure classic alert. I personally had these back in high school BUT i played Basketball in them and now i get another second chance to have these clean again. The ticket on these are $250. I'm very curious to see how these do in sales with ALL of these other great sneaker pick releasing this weekend. This is another classic Jordan colorway that is being released this holiday. I'm not complaining but my bank account will. That's the price you play for being a sneakerhead.  Im a fan of the flap on these. I usually rock these without the flap so we will see what happens this time around.

Released Date: December 22, 2016

Retail Price: $250

Nike KD 9 "Oreos"

Nike KD 9 "Oreos"

  • So the more I write about each feature on this post, the more i realize that i will be going broke during the month of December! Glad tax season is around the corner. i digress. What can i say about these? i find myself repeating "one of the cleanest colorways" BUT this Oreo flynit color combination is CLEAN! Black and White just comes together on this sneaker so nicely. I'm excited about black soles because you do not have to worry about them getting dirty fast. at $150 these will end up in my closet.

Sleeper Picks...

Nike KD 9 "Sauce"

Retail Price: $150 USD

  • Now all sleeper picks aren't necessarily "bad". I call these sleepers just simply because there are SO many releases that come out around the same time. When it comes to the Kobes, well, I'm a fan. So I'm biased. I'll save my comments. Just know, YOU SHOULD BUY, if you can. Black and White is just a classic color way for most signatures shoes. The pictures speaks for themselves. Now these KDs; the colorway is dope to me. But will definitely be hard to match. The design of the KD 9s have been the best design I've seen of his signatures in a couple years. They may find there way into my sneaker collection.

And now for the exclusive holiday Collaboration...

SoleFly X Air Jordan 16 "Art Basel"

SoleFly X Air Jordan 16 "Art Basel"

  • One word, CLEAN! This colorway is one of the cleanest "non" OG Jordan Retro colorway I've seen. I have the Lebron South Beach 8s and the colorways are similar. I've actually seen post calling them "South Beac 16". Aside from the Retro number, I'm a fan of the color combination. These will be an exclusive release so if you can get your hand on a pair, GET THEM! I feel these are one of the top releases this holiday season. I will be trying my hardest to add these to my collection. There's a steep ticket price on these but I think I can get pass it.

SN: Word on the street is that they could have The Jumpan's very own signature.. but we shall see!
